Collisions are not the only way a car can be damaged. Comprehensive auto insurance insures your car against non collision damage. Theft, vandalism, storm damage, damage from hitting deer, and so forth are covered. Sometimes window glass is covered in comprehensive insurance, and sometimes it is not. Examine your policy to see whether your comprehensive insurance covers glass, and consider getting glass coverage if your policy does not currently cover glass.
